All on your own, no way out !
Short story by way of a lead-in:
- When one person meets another person and they exchange a coin, they each go away with one coin.
- When one person meets another person and they exchange an idea, they each go away with two ideas…
In daily life either private or at work we are continuously confronted with new environments where we have to struggle on and in the end we have to take some decisions! And what will come of our private or professional orientations will depend only on the quality, or lack of quality, of those decisions.
And how do we take a good decision?
The method that consists of surrounding oneself with people who have already experienced or worked in the kind of environment in which we have to make the decision is important.
Do not ask them to make the decision on your behalf, ask them to let you know about their experience by describing the corresponding environment.
To share ideas with several experienced people on the subject in question will facilitate taking the decision.
Whatever we decide, in the end, we are on our own. However, to have access to the experience of several other cases helps reinforce the decision.
As we have to take decisions in many and various fields we must have a good network in order to always have the option to seek informed advice.
If I assess my own career, I would say that if I had not consulted the right people at the right time, my life would have been very different!
All on your own, no way out!
